Starting from January 2009, ESTA US Visa (Electronic System for Travel Authorization) is required for travelers visiting United States for business, transit or tourism visits under 90 days.
ESTA is a new entry requirement for foreign nationals with visa exempt status who are planning to travel to United States by air, land or sea. The electronic authorization is linked electronically and directly to your passport and is valid for a period of (2) two years. ESTA US Visa is not a physical document or a sticker in your passport. At the port of entry into United States, you are expected to furnish the passport to a U.S. Customs and Border Protection officer. This should be the same passport that you used to apply for ESTA USA Visa.
Applicants of the eligible countries/territories must apply for the ESTA US Visa Application minimum 3 days in advance of the date of arrival.
Citizens of Canada do not require ESTA US Visa (or Electronic System for Travel Authorization).
